Optical ray propagation, shadow mechanics, and mechanical lever classifications govern Grade 6 Science and Technology in Term 3, setting out 29 empirical lessons over 9 pages, derived from New Planet Science and Technology Grade 6 pages 134 through 136.
Pupils perform laboratory experiments and sketch technical diagrams organised into two physical science study areas:
- Light Propagation and Optics: proving that light travels in straight lines, constructing cardboard pinhole cameras, and charting solar and lunar eclipses in weeks 1 and 2.
- Rainbow Dispersion: demonstrating spectral dispersion with glass prisms, explaining natural rainbow formation, and observing light transmission through transparent media in week 2.
- Lever Classifications: identifying the fulcrum, effort, and load points on simple machines, and classifying first, second, and third-class levers across weeks 3 to 5.
- Inclined Planes and Slopes: testing how slopes reduce physical lifting effort, measuring ramp angles, and completing terminal examinations during weeks 6 to 8.
