Auditory discrimination, pre-reading picture interpretation, and mark-making writing readiness shape language foundation studies in PP1 during the final term, scheduling 40 foundational lessons across 10 pages. Core coursework adheres to the KICD pre-primary foundational framework.
Pupils cultivate listening acuity and early literacy expression through interactive phonetic drills and visual storytelling arranged in four developmental modules:
- Auditory Sound Recognition: listening to domestic animal noises, identifying sounds heard during school compound nature walks, and distinguishing pitch in weeks 1 and 2.
- Letter Sound Phonics: chanting phonetic letter sounds from picture flashcards, matching vocal sounds to familiar objects, and singing letter songs during weeks 2 to 4.
- Visual Picture Reading: describing illustrated school scenes, naming common learning objects on charts, and interpreting picture story sequences in weeks 5 and 6.
- Pre-Writing Scribbling and Colouring: developing pincer pencil grasps, colouring within thick outlines, drawing freehand strokes, and concluding term assessments in weeks 7 and 8.
