Morning routine time awareness, surface area coverage, and geometric shape modelling guide PP1 Mathematics Activities across Term 3, allocating 36 hands-on lessons across 9 pages. Learning tasks follow Mentor Mathematical Activities PP1 pages 71 through 89.
Early numeracy and spatial reasoning develop through tactile manipulative exercises and concrete sorting games divided into four instructional areas:
- Daily Routine and Time: sequencing morning activities prior to school departure, discussing daytime versus nighttime routines, and associating actions with clocks in weeks 1 and 2.
- Surface Area Coverage: identifying flat table surfaces, shading geometric faces, and estimating surface areas by laying bottle tops and small wooden blocks across weeks 3 to 5.
- Geometric Shape Exploration: recognising circles, triangles, and rectangles in classroom items, joining dotted outlines, and modelling solid shapes using plasticine in weeks 5 to 7.
- Mathematical Review and Assessment: tallying matched concrete counters, playing simple grouping games, and taking end-of-term evaluations during week 8.
