Use the official KNEC CP2 portal for CP2 login, first-time account creation, profile updates, applications for available examination duties and password recovery. Register only if you are a first-time user. Returning users should log in or use the live reset page. An application is not a deployment: confirm the role and duty station shown in your dashboard before accepting any duty or downloading a letter.

Official CP2 Portal login links
The main CP2 login address is https://cp2.knec.ac.ke/. Check that the browser address ends in knec.ac.ke before entering your username or password. The live portal currently provides separate links for account creation, password reset and the downloadable user manual, so start each CP2 login task from the official page.
| Task | Official route | Use it when |
|---|---|---|
| CP2 login | Main portal | You already have CP2 credentials. |
| Create account | Registration page | You have never created a CP2 account. |
| Recover access | Reset page | You have an account but cannot use the password. |
| Read KNEC instructions | CP2 user manual | You need the official workflow reference; note that some screenshots are older than the live portal. |
What the KNEC CP2 portal is used for
CP2 is KNEC’s Contracted Professionals System. KNEC uses it to capture and maintain details of people engaged in examination administration, including supervision, invigilation and related centre-management functions. The system supports applications for available roles, deployment records, attendance-related administration and information used when claims are processed.
Do not confuse CP2 with every other KNEC service. A CP2 login is mainly for contracted examination-administration work. Marking and examiner-training tasks may be handled through the separate KNEC Examiners platform, while payment viewing is handled through the relevant payroll or UHR service after KNEC has processed the claim.
| Your task | Correct system | Important distinction |
|---|---|---|
| Apply for supervision or invigilation duties | KNEC CP2 | A submitted application does not guarantee selection or deployment. |
| View a CP2 deployment or appointment letter | KNEC CP2 | The letter appears only after KNEC/TSC deployment is released to your account. |
| Apply for examiner training or handle marking invitations | KNEC Examiners portal | This is a separate workflow; follow the current official examiner notice. |
| View a processed government payslip or payment record | UHR/payslip service | CP2 records duties; it is not a general payslip portal. |
What to prepare before registration
Complete the process using your own phone and reliable internet. The registration page asks for a mobile number in international format, illustrated by KNEC as 254700123456. Use the number that you can access because CP2 sends account information to the registered phone.
- Your active mobile number in the format shown on the official form, without spaces.
- Accurate personal details that match your official identification and employment records.
- Current work station and work experience so that your profile reflects where you actually serve.
- Academic and professional qualifications required by the profile sections.
- A private device or trusted browser session; avoid public cybercafé password saving.
Do not create another account simply because CP2 login fails. The registration route is labelled for first-time users. A duplicate attempt may produce an existing-user error. Start with password reset, then use the official KNEC contact route if the registered mobile number has changed or the account cannot be matched.
How to create a CP2 account
Create an account only if you have never registered on CP2. The live page says the password will be sent to the registered phone.
- Open the official CP2 account-creation page.
- Enter your active mobile number in the format shown by KNEC, beginning with 254.
- Enter the same number in the confirmation field.
- Select Create Account once. Do not keep submitting while waiting for the response.
- Check the registered phone for the credentials or account message.
- Return to the CP2 login page and sign in.
- Open your profile and complete the required personal, work-experience and qualification sections.
Expected result: you should reach the contracted-professional dashboard after using the credentials linked to your phone. If the page says you have already registered, stop the new-account process and use password recovery instead.
How to log in and update your profile
Returning users should open the main CP2 login page, enter the username associated with the account and the current password, then select Log in. KNEC’s manual describes profile areas for personal information, work experience and qualifications. Update any detail that has genuinely changed before applying for a duty.
- Open Profile or the equivalent dashboard section.
- Review personal details carefully; do not enter another person’s phone, identification or employment details.
- Review your work experience and current work station.
- Review academic and professional qualifications.
- Use Edit for an existing entry and Add only for genuinely new information.
- Save each section and reopen it to confirm the change was retained.
- Log out after finishing, especially on a shared device.
Fresh portal check: the public CP2 pages currently show a data-protection notice stating that personal data is collected for administration and management of national examinations and assessments. Enter only information requested by the official portal, and never send passwords or one-time codes to a third party.
How to apply for KNEC examination duties
Applications are available only when KNEC opens a relevant vacancy or contracting exercise. A complete profile does not automatically apply you for every examination. Log in during the officially announced window and use the vacancy or jobs section shown in your dashboard.
- Select the examination or assessment shown in the vacancy list.
- Choose the activity, such as supervision or invigilation, where that option is available.
- Select the duty-station type and the position or designation you are applying for.
- Select the correct county and sub-county.
- Run the search and open the matching result.
- Read the examination, activity, role and location details before confirming.
- Tick the confirmation box only when every displayed detail is correct.
- Submit the application and keep the on-screen acknowledgement for your records.
KNEC’s manual also describes a withdrawal option for an application submitted with the wrong examination or position. Use that option only when it is visible in your current dashboard, then submit a corrected application. Do not assume that a successful submission means you have been appointed.
How to check deployment and download your letter
After deployment is released, sign in and check the dashboard or deployment area for the examination, duty station, position and available action. KNEC examination-administration guidance refers to contracted-professional letters and their use during the examination cycle.
- Open the CP2 dashboard after receiving an official deployment notice or being told that letters are available.
- Check the examination or assessment, role, centre or duty station, and reporting instructions.
- Where the dashboard presents an Accept, Confirm or equivalent control, use it only after verifying the details and confirming that you can perform the duty.
- Where a decline or rejection control is provided, follow the on-screen instructions. If no such control appears, contact the relevant TSC/SCDE Sub-County office before the reporting date.
- Use the appointment or deployment-letter action shown under the record to open the document.
- Download the PDF, check that it is complete, and print or save it securely.
- Follow the current letter and circular, not an old screenshot, for reporting, identification and badge instructions.
Honest limitation: KNEC’s logged-in deployment screen is not publicly visible, so the exact button label cannot be independently checked outside an active account. The public manual is older than the live 2026 login interface. Verify the current acceptance and letter-download labels during the active contracting cycle before publishing screenshots.
No letter does not, by itself, prove rejection. It may mean deployments have not been published, your application was not selected, or the record is not linked correctly. Use the official contracting notice and your Sub-County office to confirm your status.
How to reset your CP2 password
The current CP2 login page links directly to an online password-reset form, making the CP2 login recovery route clearer than the older manual. This is the preferred recovery route because it reflects the live portal. The form asks for the username and displays a mobile-number example beginning with 254.
- Open the official CP2 password-reset page.
- Enter the username or registered mobile number in the format requested by the live form.
- Select Reset Password once.
- Check the registered phone for the recovery message or new credentials.
- Return to the main CP2 login page and sign in.
- Change or secure the password as soon as the dashboard permits.
Important update: the downloadable 2018 manual mentions an SMS shortcode for password recovery, but the live portal now provides a web reset page. Do not rely on the old SMS method unless a current KNEC circular or the live portal specifically instructs you to use it.
Common CP2 Portal login errors and fixes
| Problem | Likely next check | Safe recovery route |
|---|---|---|
| “Already registered” during account creation | The phone number may already be linked to an account. | Stop registering and use the official reset page. |
| No password or recovery message | The phone format may be wrong, delivery may be delayed, or the registered number may differ. | Confirm the 254 format, wait briefly, retry once, then use KNEC’s official contact page. |
| Invalid username or password | The credential may be mistyped or outdated. | Type it manually, check spaces and use password reset. |
| Blank dashboard or no vacancy | There may be no open matching exercise, filters may not match, or the contracting window may be closed. | Check the current official notice; do not use a third-party “activation” service. |
| Wrong role, county or duty station | The application or deployment data may be incorrect. | Do not accept blindly; withdraw if available or contact the relevant Sub-County office. |
| Letter will not open or download | The browser may block the PDF or the session may have expired. | Log in again, allow the official KNEC PDF to open, or try another current browser without bypassing security warnings. |
| Payment not visible | The duty record may still be under attendance or claims processing. | Confirm attendance/deployment records first, then use the payment or UHR route when processing is complete. |
For unresolved account or deployment errors, use the official KNEC contact page and the responsible TSC or education Sub-County office. Share only the minimum details needed to locate the case. Do not post your full identification number, TSC number, password or phone credentials in public groups.
Security and privacy checks
- Use only the cp2.knec.ac.ke domain for the CP2 login.
- Never pay someone to create, activate or deploy a CP2 account.
- Do not share passwords, OTPs, full identification numbers or banking details through WhatsApp or social media.
- Do not continue through an SSL or browser certificate warning. Close the page and recheck the official address.
- Download letters only from your authenticated dashboard and store them away from public devices.
- Log out when finished and clear saved credentials from a shared browser.
- Treat unexpected calls or messages asking you to “confirm deployment” with credentials as suspicious.
CP2 payments and the UHR hand-off
CP2 supports the contracted-professional record used in examination administration, including details connected to attendance and claims. It is not a promise of a payment date or amount. Payment depends on the applicable examination cycle, verified deployment and attendance records, and KNEC’s processing.
When a payment has been processed to the relevant government payroll service, use the TeachersKE UHR payslip guide for the payment-viewing task. Keep this distinction clear: use CP2 login for your contracted-professional profile, application and deployment; use UHR or the specified payment service to view the resulting payment record.
Do not trust circulating allowance tables unless they are tied to a current KNEC circular. Rates, eligible days and processing dates can change between examination cycles. This evergreen guide intentionally does not hard-code an amount or deadline.
Frequently asked questions
Is CP2 registration the same as applying for a duty?
No. Registration creates the account and profile. You must still log in and apply for an available vacancy during the relevant contracting window. Submission is then reviewed; it is not automatic deployment.
Can I create a second account when CP2 login fails?
Do not start with a second account. Use the live password-reset page first. If your phone number has changed or the account cannot be located, follow the official KNEC contact and Sub-County support route.
How do I know whether I have been deployed?
Check the deployment area in your authenticated dashboard and the official notice from the responsible office. A submitted application or profile completion is not proof of appointment.
Where do I download the KNEC appointment letter?
After deployment is published to your account, open the deployment record and use the appointment or deployment-letter action displayed by the current dashboard. Check every detail before accepting or printing.
Does CP2 show KNEC payments?
CP2 records contracted-professional information and supports claims administration, but the final payment record may appear in UHR or another service named by KNEC. Confirm deployment and attendance first, then use the correct payslip guide.
Is CP2 the portal for KCSE marking invitations?
Not always. KNEC uses a separate Examiners platform for examiner-training and marking workflows. The task and portal are different. Follow the link stated in the current official examiner notice.
